Why We Give

God is the greatest giver. He gave His Son, Jesus, for our salvation. When we offer our time, talent, prayers, possessions, and finances, we are actively worshiping and acknowledging that everything comes from Him. Your gifts empower our mission to share the hope of Jesus, serve our neighbors, and strengthen our community.

Stocks and Mutual Funds

When you give appreciated securities to Lakeview Bible Church, you’re leveraging your tax benefits for Kingdom development.

Donors may deduct the fair market value of the securities while avoiding tax on the appreciated gain. In short, donors may claim both the security and its appreciation as a charitable contribution income tax deduction without incurring a capital gains tax.

The deduction is based on the fair market value of the securities on the date they are owned by the church (typically, this is the date the securities are deposited into the church’s brokerage account). Lakeview’s policy is to immediately sell the securities received and then use the net proceeds for the designated charitable purpose of the gift.

IRA Qualified Distributions

If you are over 70 ½ years old, then you may distribute directly from your IRA to the Lakeview Bible Church up to $108,000 and exclude the contributed amount from your gross income for tax purposes.

This amount can be counted toward your IRA’s annual required minimum distribution. To learn more, consult with your financial and/or tax advisor to analyze your situation and confirm tax benefits.

Crypto

For the 2026 tax year, you may distribute up to $111,000 directly from your IRA to a qualified charity. If you are married and filing jointly, and your spouse also has an IRA, you may each donate up to this limit from your respective accounts, totaling $222,000.

Kingdom Investment 2025

  1. What’s the ask?
    • We are raising $1,300,000 in order to add 194 parking spots for our church campus and hire an architect to produce some initial renderings of what a future second building/worship center could look like.
  2. Why hire the architect now?
    • We believe adding the increased parking will continue the growth we’ve already experienced at Lakeview thus necessitating expanding our campus further. The renderings will give us some more tangible ways to envision and dream about “step two” plans, after the “step one” of the parking lot.
  3. Are we building a parking lot only, or are we also raising money to start construction of a second church building?
    • We are only building a parking lot. If sufficient funds are received, we will also engage an architect to produce a set of preliminary renderings of what a second church building could look like. We believe we could need a second building within the next few years, but we are not at that point yet.
  4. Were other alternatives, besides a parking lot, considered?
    • Yes. We considered adding a third service. While this option may be needed in the future, depending on further growth at Lakeview, the increase in staff and volunteer support for a third service is quite significant and the congregation isn’t big enough to support. Going to a third service makes more sense as the congregation size approaches 1,000. Lakeview currently averages 770 people per Sunday.
    • We also considered maximizing other parking locations. We considered partnering with our business neighbors on Quinlan Park to utilize their unused parking on Sunday morning. We went ahead and asked members of our volunteer teams to park “down the hill” if they were able and are doing that. The number of spots are limited and didn’t alleviate enough of the parking burden.
  5. Do I have to give by Dec. 31, 2025?
    • No. If it makes sense for you to give in 2026, that is great. We positioned “Kingdom Investment 2025” as an “End of Year” ask because of how the timing of events unfolded for our church. We launched in September not knowing what God would do. We grew quickly and identified our parking challenges. When we decided to move forward with building extra parking, it happened to coincide with the end of the calendar year, a time when many churches and non-profits do fundraising.
